bicisport Bicycling Club

Our club was originally founded by a small group of cycling enthusiasts known as the Spokes Racing Team in 1988. In 1992, the name was changed to bicisport Calgary Cycling Team. The name comes from the Italian word for bicycle, bicicaletta, in other words "bikesport."

Over the years, membership has varied anywhere from 20 to 50 members. The club started out as a road racing club and has evolved to become one of the top clubs in Alberta representing road, mountain biking and track racing. We have had a number of national team members and international-level athletes compete in our colors.

bicisport is dedicated to promoting all levels of bicycle racing and a healthy life-style. We are keen on helping all new riders reach their full potential. We have also organized some of the top events in Alberta, including providing all the technical support for the World Police Fireman Games in 1998.

Our members enjoy affiliation to the National Cycling Association, club equipment, financial and logistical support for races, coaching, club-rides, insurance through the ABA, team-mates, training partners and a lot of fun. Members range in age from 12 to 60 years.
